Raw HTML
HTML tags in your Markdown are removed and only their text is kept.
Some remote images

How do I convert Markdown to a Word document?
Paste your Markdown into Step 1, drop a .md file onto the page, or press Load example to try it out. The preview beside the editor shows how the document will look. In Step 2, check the file name and press Download .docx. The file opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Pages and LibreOffice.
Is my Markdown uploaded to a server?
No. The .docx file is put together inside your browser tab, so your Markdown stays on your device. That makes it safe for internal notes, drafts and anything confidential. If your document has images on other websites, your browser downloads those images to embed them, the same way it would to show them.
Do Markdown headings become real Word headings?
Yes. # to ###### become Word's built-in Heading 1 to Heading 6 styles, not just big bold text. That means Word's navigation pane, automatic table of contents and style changes all work straight away.
Which Markdown features carry over into Word?
GitHub-flavoured Markdown: headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, links (including reference-style links), bulleted, numbered and nested lists, task lists, tables with column alignment, fenced code blocks, blockquotes, horizontal rules, footnotes and images.
Are tables and code blocks kept?
Yes. Tables become Word tables with a shaded, bold header row that repeats at the top of each page, and left, centre or right column alignment carries over. Code blocks keep their line breaks and indentation in a shaded monospace block that Word keeps on one page where it can.
What happens to images?
Images written as data URLs, and images on sites that allow other pages to use them, are embedded in the document and scaled to fit the page. If a site blocks that, the image becomes a link with its alt text, so you can paste the picture in yourself.
Can I edit the Word file afterwards?
Yes. The download is an ordinary .docx built from Word's own styles. To restyle every heading or the body text at once, change the style in Word rather than formatting each paragraph.
Does it work with Google Docs?
Yes. Upload the .docx to Google Drive and open it with Google Docs. Headings, lists and tables convert cleanly. To skip Word entirely, you can also copy the rendered preview and paste it into a Google Doc.
Is raw HTML in my Markdown converted?
Only its text. HTML tags are removed and line breaks (<br>) are kept, so the words aren't lost. Word has no equivalent for most HTML, so rewrite anything important in Markdown for the best result.
Is there a size limit or a daily limit?
Files can be up to 10 MB, which is far more than almost any Markdown document. There is no daily limit and no sign-up. Convert as many documents as you like.
